JORDAN TELECOM BEING THE BACKBONE FOR ALL TELECOM OPERATORS

The Backbone For All Telecom Operations
With about one third of its turnover guaranteed through sales to other operators, Jordan Telecom considers this growing market as a key market to be served in the most professional approach. In 2004, all operators in Jordan were buying several wholesale services from Jordan Telecom. In the future the Group will continue to develop these services, and the experience of the continuous evolving process of the telecom sector in Jordan will result in new opportunities for Jordan Telecom in this wholesale market.

RIO (Reference Interconnection Offer)
In January 2004, Jordan Telecom organized an industry presentation of its Reference Interconnection Offer (RIO) just approved by the TRC. This paved the way to further development in the wholesale market as the Wholesale Catalogue was published.

Wholesale Catalogue
In a bid to further facilitate the communication needs of Jordanians and enable them to benefit from competitive rates for their communication needs, Jordan Telecom has launched a “Wholesale Catalogue”. Designed to provide special discounts for licensed operators and ISPs in Jordan, the Wholesale Catalogue is based on volume and time commitment. The offer enables businesses to benefit from competition rates on some services such as transmission link services, IP bandwidth and ADSL. In 2004, most of the existing or the new operators in Jordan have signed an interconnection agreement with Jordan Telecom to benefit from this offer.

Interconnection Agreement with Jordan Telecom and Telecom Operators
In correspondence with Jordan Telecom’s commitment to supporting various operators in the Jordanian Market and helping them assume a role in the development of the communication sector, the company signed an interconnection agreement with Xpress in June.
Besides this agreement, more licensed operators signed an interconnection agreement with Jordan Telecom in the past year to provide them with wholesale services.
These are some of the important steps taken to strengthen the network and help Jordan Telecom better serve its customers and live up to their standards as it helps build the infrastructure needed to launch new services in the future for the telecom operators.
In accordance with these agreements, the companies can exchange two-way calls and offer other stated services while also covering legal issues, quality assurance, and operations maintenance. Jordan Telecom provides all telecom operators with transit services national calls reception, information service, emergency numbers and more.

Co-advertising with ISPs
Jordan Telecom launched an educational ADSL campaign to raise awareness on the different advantages of having a fast connection to access the Internet (ADSL). The company launched several advertisements about accessing banks, retrieving Tawjihi results, accessing music and book libraries, and accessing the Yellow Pages through the Internet.
The second phase of this campaign was co-advertising with certain ISPs such as Batelco, Wanadoo and AccessMe; to announce the lowering of the cost of ADSL for homes and businesses. All advertisements shared a stamp saying that these services were made possible by Jordan Telecom.
