Jordan Telecom Group believes that its role extends beyond providing the Jordanian tele communications market with cutting-edge technologies, to that of social participation through different sponsorship activities. In recognition of its role as a major national entity and being at the same time part of the country’s social weaving, in accordance with its mission and goals that aim to meet the needs of the Jordanian society, Jordan Telecom Group continued its efforts to support and sponsor the community in a true reflection of the real partnership between the private sector and civil society institutions.

 
In this context and in order to achieve these goals, Jordan Telecom Group sponsored a number of projects and programs. Its sponsorship strategy has been based on the community's needs and priorities that are compatible with Jordan Telecom Group’s mission and goals.
Special attention is given to the continuity and sustainability of is given to the continuity and sustainability of the projects that are selected after passing a series of procedures and mechanisms that would ensure the credibility and transparency of the selection and assessment processes.
Throughout 2005, Jordan Telecom Group sponsored several activities in diverse fields, starting with educational activities by the Jordan Telecom Fund, to humanitarian and social activities, to the support of women, youth, cultural and sports activities.

In the educational field, Jordan Telecom Group contributed to spreading Internet and computer knowledge. JT Fund continued its educational activities that aim at providing communities with tools that are still in demand among target groups, and sponsored several festivals and activities organized throughout the Kingdom.

To achieve His Majesty's vision of bridging the information gap between different society groups, JT Fund's Internet Bus and Tent roamed the Kingdom's schools and universities introducing children and youth to the use of computers and the Internet to get a feel of the most advanced communications technologies.

On the other hand, the Computer Training Lab, that was added to JT Fund's facilities in 2003, continued to provide its free practical and applied training courses to school teachers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, and to a number of civil servants in the public sector as well as to non-profit organizations. This activity corresponds with the Kingdom's direction toward implementing the e-government project and contributes to upgrading the competency of staff members. The Lab is accredited by UNESCO to issue ICDL certificates. In 2005, the Lab trained 470 candidates and gave 858 exam hours for ICDL trainees. The sponsorship of “Ajyaluna” awareness caravan comes in line with the Fund’s efforts to spread the culture of the Internet.

Similarly, as part of the efforts to enhance work opportunities for women in rural areas by giving them training in the ICT field, Jordan Telecom equipped the villages of Lib and Mleih with the necessary telecommunication lines while Wanadoo took on itself the task of providing Internet connectivity in the two villages.

As for the humanitarian aspect of Jordan Telecom Group's activities, Jordan Telecom offered a day of free calls to Tsunami-struck countries as a gesture of compassion from the people of Jordan to those countries. 400,000 minutes were used amounting to JD 127,000. For its part, MobileCom organized an SMS donation campaign for Tsunami victims. JD 5,000 were collected in two weeks, and a cheque for the amount was sent to the Jordanian Red Crescent Society, which in turn delivered it to the bereaved victims.

In an effort to contribute to the rehabilitation of cerebral palsy patients, Jordan Telecom Group established a graphic design center in the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. The project aims at creating job opportunities for students with cerebral palsy through training. Additionally, Jordan Telecom Group supported the Jordan Specialized Center for Autism (JORSCA) by sponsoring the education of five autistic children in JORSCA for a whole academic year. JORSCA offers specialized care for autistic children in order to reintegrate them within their communities and help them take care of and rely on themselves.

Jordan Telecom Group did not neglect the less priviledged in society. It provided support for Tkiyet Um Ali, which offers food to the most disadvantaged and poor groups of society. Jordan Telecom Group's efforts came in Ramadan through two projects: Iftar meals and Zakat al-Fitr (alms) making the latter payable by calling a certain number provided by Jordan Telecom.

In 2005, MobileCom renewed its agreement to support and sponsor the Jordanian
Hashemite Fund's programs and activities and the charity campaign MobileCom has been patroning for four years by funding and sponsoring the mobile clinic project, including dental and gynecology services; the educational assistance project for university students, sheep raising projects, dressmaking projects from home, a small grocery project, and the schoolbag project.

Because young people make up more than half of society, Jordan Telecom Group sponsored and took under its wing some youth entrepreneurs in 2005 by supporting the Princess Sumaya National Entrepreneurship Competition (PSNEC) Project that aims at supporting innovation and exceptional ideas among Jordanian university students and turning them into successful business plans. Through this competition, five projects are selected and presented with money prizes.

MobileCom was also part of a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Education and Intel. Through its global initiative "Innovation in Education", the latter organizes scientific competitions in the form of Ministry of Education school local fares to select a number of students who will be sent to Intel's International Science and Engineering fair that will be held in May 2006 in the United States.

As for supporting culture and music, Jordan Telecom Group sponsored the “Music of Jordan” a project by the National Music Conservatory (NMC) through three musical performances by NMC's orchestra and producing a CD of folkloric Jordanian music and making it available on the JT website.

To the same end, Jordan also supported RUM Group's project for the revival of national folklore by
producing a CD of folkloric Jordanian music and making it available on the JT website. "Towards Young Jordanian Voices", the slogan for the 5th Jordanian Song Festival which was fully sponsored for the second time by Jordan Telecom that had also set aside a JD 5,000 prize for the winner of the public's tele-voting.

Jordan Telecom played a pioneering role in organizing sports activities that aim at building Jordanian youth's abilities and skills, and encouraging them to interact with their society. As a result came Jordan Telecom and MobileCom's platinum sponsorship of the Basketball League 2005-2006 as part of the integrated institutional vision that strives to advance Jordanian sports.
